Crossing Gender Borders with Mujerista Theology
Third Annual Feminist Scholar in Residence
The Rev. Dr. Cristian De La Rosa, Boston University School of Theology

Presented by the Gender Equity in Word and Deed Committee of Grace Church, Brooklyn Heights; the Mercer School of Theology; All Saints Park Slope; and St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church.

At this contentious moment in our country and at our borders, we will gather to explore the ways in which Latin American women struggle for survival and justice at the intersections of social and religious systems in this country, and and what this can mean for our theology and ministries.

The Rev. Dr. Cristian De La Rosa is the Clinical Assistant Professor of Contextual Theology and Practice and the Director of Contextual Education and Community Partnerships at the Boston University School of Theology. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of the Pacific, a Master of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary, a Master of Sacred Theology and a Ph.D. in Theology and Ethics from Chicago Theological Seminary. Her areas of interest and scholarship include Feminist and Mujerista Theologies, cultural theory, Latin American Liberation Theology, Urban Ministry, and the Hispanic/Latino community and its religious history.

Originally from Mexico, Dr. De La Rosa is an ordained elder with the New England Conference of the United Methodist Church. She currently serves on the board of directors of the Massachusetts Council of Churches, as a representative of the United Methodist Church in the National Council of Churches, as co-convener for the National Association of United Methodist Latina Clergy women (ACLAMEN), as president for the board of directors of the Hispanic Summer Program (HSP), and as the national director of the Hispanic Youth Leadership Academy (HYLA) and the Raices Latinas Leadership Institute.

Registration is free and includes the workshop. Attending the workshop plus the buffet lunch is $20. You are welcome to bring a bag lunch. Beverages will be provided.
