Earth Day Forum

April 26, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

Baptism and Ecology: A 50th Anniversary Earth Day Forum
Sunday, April 26, 5:30 pm on Zoom

The Creation Care Community of the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island and St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church and Pro-Cathedral invite you to participate in a forum that offers us a time to listen, think and enter more deeply into a foundational Christian practice – baptism – and its life-giving, yet challenging implications for our relationship to the Earth and all creatures of God.

The forum will feature Dr. Benjamin Stewart, academic, theologian, activist, and Lutheran pastor. Dr. Stewart is the Associate Professor of Worship and Director of Advanced Studies at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. Among his areas of expertise are: Wisdom in a “post-truth” culture, renewal of congregational worship life, religion and ecology, natural burial as a spiritual practice, and the history, theology, and renewal of baptism.

Topics of Dr. Stewart’s Earth Day presentation include the connections between ecological crisis, pandemics, and your baptism; theology and activism for the Earth and all creatures; and the implications of justice for both clean water and baptismal practice.
