Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin mandatum novum (“new commandment”) that was given by Jesus to disciples upon his institution of the Holy Eucharist: “love one another, just as I have loved you.” St. Ann’s will celebrate this commandment with a service of Holy Eucharist and foot washing before the altar is stripped for Good Friday.
