New Scholarly Research on Mary Magdalene

October 1, 2021 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Songwriter Concert + New Scholarly Research on Mary Magdalene

Following up on our explorations of Mary Magdalene over the summer, St. Ann’s is thrilled to welcome Elizabeth “Libbie” Schrader for a performance and discussion Friday, October 1. After a long career as a singer/songwriter, Schrader transitioned to religious scholarship after writing a song about Mary Magdalene in 2011. Now a Ph.D. candidate in Early Christianity at Duke University, Schrader’s research focuses on Mary Magdalene, textual criticism and feminist theology. Join us to hear “Magdalene” and other songs, as well as a presentation on Schrader’s scholarship, which was published in the Harvard Theological Review in 2017. If you are interested in learning more before October 1, you can read Schrader’s Harvard Theological Review article, or watch her “Magdalene” music video.
