Summer Concert Series
July 8 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
The Coolest Ranch, a Brooklyn trio specializing in Cosmic American Music, will perform at the second annual Summer Concert Series of St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church and Pro-Cathedral, Brooklyn Heights, on Thursday, July 8, at 6:00 pm. The 45-minute concerts take place in the sanctuary of the church at Montague and Clinton Streets in Brooklyn Heights each Thursday through September 2, 2021. The Forum @ St. Ann’s, the parish’s arts and culture program, is presenting the concert series to benefit St. Ann’s Pop-Up Pantry on its first anniversary.
Balancing city sophistication and country comforts, The Coolest Ranch brings the best songs of the 20th century into the 21st like crate diggers of the digital age. Classic blues, country, and bits and pieces of the American songbook and folk repertoire get filtered through the lens of the jazz trio (with fantastic vocals!) bringing the smarts and the party in equal measure. Chris Q Murphy sings and leads on guitar, Jay Buchanan sings too while thumping the big bass, and Tim Monaghan (of klezmer punk band Golem) grooves you from the bottom up behind the drums.
Concertgoers are asked to donate food items or make a financial donation to St. Ann’s Pop-Up Pantry. The program was launched in June 2020 in response to the increased food insecurity in Brooklyn resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. The program quickly evolved, giving away ever increasing amounts of non-perishable and fresh groceries as the lines of guests grew longer. To date, St. Ann’s Pop-up Pantry has provided over 10,500 nutritious meals, and the need shows no sign of stopping.
All are urged to combine their love of music and the desire to help their neighbors by attending the Summer Concert Series benefiting St. Ann’s Pop-up Pantry.
