Fall Bible Studies

Sundays, Oct. 20 – Nov. 17, 2013
12:30 pm – 1:15 pm
This fall we are continuing our popular Bible Study series on Sundays from 12:30-1:15 pm in the Church, after the main service, from October 20 to November 17. Please join us as we examine our Holy Scriptures with the Rev. Sarah Kooperkamp to both glean deeper insights into the life of Jesus and consider how they speak to us today.
The first three Sundays focus on selections from Luke’s Gospel, discussing passages where the kingdom of God is mentioned as a way of examining what Jesus means by that phrase and what it means for us. Jesus tells his disciples that “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other cities also; for I was sent for this purpose” (Chapter 4 verse 43). This suggests the kingdom of God is closely linked to Jesus’ mission, and perhaps to our mission as well.
On the final two Sundays, we shift our focus over to the Acts of the Apostles, which was written by the same writer as Luke’s Gospel. In Acts we look at the reality of the Church and consider the ways it is and is not related to the kingdom of God.
Reading packets are available for pick-up with ushers on Sunday mornings.
Everyone is welcome to join us!
