The word tenebrae (the Latin word for “darkness” or “shadows”) has for centuries been applied to monastic services in Holy Week that feature the gradual extinguishing of candles. In keeping with this tradition, St. Ann’s will hold a candlelight service of readings and meditation, with chant, on Wednesday of Holy Week
Maundy Thursday Holy Eucharist with Footwashing, April 6, 6:00 pm
Maundy Thursday takes its name from the Latin mandatum novum (“new commandment”) that was given by Jesus to disciples upon his institution of the Holy Eucharist: “love one another, just as I have loved you.” St. Ann’s will celebrate this commandment with a service of Holy Eucharist and footwashing before the altar is stripped for Good Friday
Good Friday, April 7
Stations of the Cross, 12:00 noon
St. Ann’s will offer guided Stations of the Cross (also called the Way of the Cross), a traditional liturgical devotion that commemorates the last day of Jesus’ life. The practice originated with pilgrims in Jerusalem, retracing the steps Jesus is believed to have followed on Good Friday. The devotion offers the opportunity for Christians to meditate on each of the stations by contemplating the needs of suffering people in our world, and challenges us to think about how we – the ministers of God’s reconciliation in Christ – can honor Christ’s sacrifice.
Good Friday Holy Eucharist with Sung Passion, 6:00 pm
Join us at St. Ann’s solemn Good Friday liturgy that includes the sung passion and Holy Eucharist.

The family-friendly Holy Eucharist service in the flower-adorned sanctuary will be followed by a dash to find Easter eggs.
Festival Holy Eucharist with choir and brass
