March for Farmworkers

Episcopal Ministries of Long Island and Rural & Migrant Ministry is standing with farmworkers in our state. Farmworkers in New York are excluded from basic protections, such as the right to collective organizing, overtime pay, and a day of rest. An EMLI-RMM march with and for farmworker rights began Monday, May 16, in Eastern Long Island and will end in Albany.

St. Ann’s Outreach Committee invites you to march with us from Brooklyn Heights to Washington Heights on Saturday, May 21. Coffee and bagels will be served in the parish hall at 157 Montague Street from 8:00 am to 8:30 am. Marchers will then gather on Cadman Plaza at 8:45 am.

The schedule for the entire day is below. Plan to participate for the full day or any segment of the day’s march.

Starting Point: 8:45 am-10:00 am, Cadman Plaza Park
RALLY 10:00 am-10:30 am, City Hall Plaza

Segment B: 10:30 am-11:00 am, City Hall Plaza to St. Mark’s in the Bowery (131 East 10th St) 1.7 miles
LUNCH 11:00 am-11:30 am, at St. Mark’s in the Bowery (131 East 10th St) with musical guests the St. Mark’s Choir and Ensemble

Segment C: 11:30 am-12:00 noon, St. Mark’s in the Bowery (131 East 10th St) to Union Square (14th & Broadway) .5 miles
RALLY 12:00 noon -1:00 pm, Union Square (14th & Broadway)

Segment D: 1:00 pm-3:30 pm, Union Square to B’nai Jeshurun Community House (270 West 89th Street) 4 miles
BREAK 3:30 pm-4:15 pm, B’nai Jeshurun (270 West 89th Street)

Segment E: 4:15 pm-6:00 pm, B’nai Jeshurun to Holyrood Episcopal Church (715 West 179th Street) 4.7 miles
