MLK Day of Service

Saturday, January 18, 2014
To honor the legacy of Dr. King as our nation commemorates his birth, St. Ann & the Holy Trinity is organizing a Day of Service as our January outreach effort.
Martin Luther King, Jr. embodied the message of love at the heart of the Gospel of Jesus Christ by boldly and courageously standing up for civil rights, seeking justice and equality for all, and bringing good news to the poor and the oppressed at the margins of society.
For St. Ann’s MLK Day of Service, we need your support to help serve a hot meal to guests of the soup kitchen at CHiPS (Christian Help in Park Slope) on Saturday, January 18. CHiPS serves hundreds of meals to hungry people each week, and is currently greatly understaffed.
Here’s how you can participate in St. Ann’s MLK Day of Service project:
Donate canned foods (tomatoes, vegetables), bags of brown rice, dried beans. Your donations can be delivered to the church on Sunday, January 12, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, and during the following week Monday-Friday, January 13-17, to the Parish Hall at 157 Montague Street from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Donate funds to help purchase food. A canister for donations is available at the church entrance on Sunday morning. Other donations can be delivered to the parish office.
Six members of St. Ann’s will spend a few hours working with other volunteers at CHiPS (200 4th Ave, Brooklyn) helping CHiPS staff prepare food, set tables, serve the meal, and clean up.
Please help us assist CHiPS and their hungry guests.
