Back to Life: Resurrection Reimagined

An Exhibition jointly presented and curated by the New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and the Forum @ St. Ann’s.

Opening Reception: Sunday, May 3, 2015, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Exhibition Dates: Sunday, April 12, 2015 – Sunday, May 31, 2015

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) and The Forum @ St. Ann’s announce a partnering exhibition, Back to Life: Resurrection Reimagined, now on view in the sanctuary of the historic St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Brooklyn Heights.

With both site-specific and already realized works by ten contemporary artists, Back to Life features multiple thematic interpretations relating to the concept of resurrection and renewed life set within the context of the 168 year-old church. In 14 panels spanning balconies along the main sanctuary’s north and south sides, 10 different artists express their particular ideas about resurrection. While most commonly associated with Christian theologies about Jesus Christ, resurrection remains a central theme within many religions, mythologies and, belief systems.

Curators of the exhibition were David C. Terry of NYFA, and Harry Weil, Matthew Leaycraft, with the Rev. John Denaro from St. Ann & the Holy Trinity Church. The Forum @ St. Ann’s produces the church’s art and performance programs designed to engage the community in conversation about the arts, ideas and civic life.

Public Hours: Tuesday – Thursday, 12 noon – 3:00 pm; Sunday 9:00 am – 1:00 pm. Viewing also arranged by appointment by contacting office@stannholytrinity.org or 718-875-6960.
