Bishop Lawrence Provenzano led “Remembering Black Lives Matter: A Vigil for Justice on the Anniversary of George Floyd’s Death,” on Tuesday, May 25, 2021. Among those gathering in the sanctuary to honor the life of George Floyd and all the victims of state violence were these community leaders:
Josue Pierre, candidate for City Council, 40th District (Brooklyn)
Anthony Beckford, candidate for City Council, 45th District (Brooklyn)
Crystal Hudson, candidate for City Council, 35th District (Brooklyn)
Jo Anne Simon, State Assemblymember, District 52, and candidate for Brooklyn Borough President
The congregation responded to a Litany of Repentance and recommitted themselves to remembering, honoring and protecting Black and Brown lives. And they lifted prayers to create a world where all of God’s children can thrive.
