The Montague Street BID partnered with St. Ann’s and neighborhood businesses to kick off Open Streets 2023, a series featuring free outdoor entertainment and activities on Saturdays from May to September. On May 6, our church invited special guests that included the Hungry March Band, the Samoa Wilson Trio, readings by Brooklyn Poets, demonstrations and lessons from the Elite BKLYN (Double Dutch) Jumpers and a Dance Party with DJ Captain Kitty. A highlight of the afternoon was when the 85-member Grace Chorale of Brooklyn helped Canon John celebrate his 60th birthday with a rousing rendition of “Happy Birthday” and cake was shared with friends and onlookers. The day’s events were written up in a wonderful piece by Mary Frost for The Brooklyn Daily Eagle with great accompanying photos. Click on image for slideshow.
