Shower Project for Lent

Our Lenten Outreach Effort
St. Ann’s outreach focus during Lent will support the Shower Project of the Turning Point, a Sunset Park nonprofit that helps underserved, high-need individuals overcome difficult circumstances and make positive changes in their lives.
The “We Care About You” Shower Project invites the homeless in for a shower, a change of undergarments and a hot beverage. A washing machine is also available, as is access to detergents. It’s a simple service, but one that is irreplaceable to the hundreds of people the project serves. Each month, the Turning Point provides more than 600 showers to members of the Brooklyn community. Each year over 7,000 undergarments are provided to Brooklyn’s homeless.
Here’s how you can participate:
- Donate new packaged undergarments; most needed are men’s sizes Medium, Large and X-large and new warm socks, sizes 9-12. If you can choose a color for the socks, black is preferred over white.
- Also needed are nonperishable food items, shampoo and deodorant. Bring your donated items to St. Ann & the Holy Trinity and drop them off in the Parish Hall (157 Montague St.) any-time during February and March.
- Donate funds on the Turning Point’s website.
This Outreach project will end on Good Friday, March 25.
