Seeing Light inside Fruit

Since I am immunocompromised, I am sheltering in place alone. I began to paint still-lifes of 3 lemons that were on my table. My young niece Elizabeth said to me on Facetime: “Aunt Annie, how’d you do that?” I said, “I’ll show you. First make your composition of fruit…” And we painted together in that way, hundreds of miles apart. Here are a couple of our paintings in progress, and fruit models. What a wonderful thing to do together. To begin to see the light inside fruit. A beautiful lesson in stillness. Aunt Annie Lanzillotto and niece Elizabeth Arkus
